What do you think of the evil?

We encounter the evil more than we ever think. It keeps watch on us every minute of the day, like a predator waiting to attack its prey. As we resist the evil, we must also know how it works. Most of the time the evil is described in three ways.

First, it is captivating. Unlike how evils are portrayed in illustrations, it usually does not have horns or scary appearance. It is usually dressed into an alluring and attractive way. Imagine it. No one would be enchanted if it looked scary! So it is usually disguised to something good.

Second, it is cunning. Though it may look nice outward, it is rotten on the inside. The evil loves to deceive and lie.

Third, it is corrupting. It will keep you away from the truth. It is intoxicating that it only brings anxiousness, weariness, and darkness.

These are all the common descriptions of the evil. However, the most important thing about it is that it also learns. When you face a problem and conquer it, it also learns from your experiences. Thus, when you become stronger, it will also try to confront you with the same strength. So when you feel like you’re not getting better, you actually are! God gives you bigger tasks as you accomplish the previous ones. No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13) The key to conquer the evil is to also continue to grow and learn. You shouldn’t stop just because you feel like you’ve reached your best version. Remember that our character will only be completed once we meet Jesus Christ.

The evil learns even when you don’t realize it. So continue to ask for God’s guidance for He will surely sustain you with strength greater than the evil.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
