Reading: Psalm 22

Every day we face challenges that are even harder than the ones we faced before. Sometimes we may feel that we are being abandoned by God. We may see our struggles as God being silent and distant from us. Most of us associate God’s presence with the blessings that we receive. However, we must remember that the people before us who trusted God with all their hearts were not put to shame. It is because whatever the circumstances, God is still Holy and his love is still steadfast. The journey toward God’s will involve impossible trials, life-changing tests, and battles to win together. God wants us to fix our eyes on Him, not on our problems.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

— Hebrews 12:2

In the Bible, Noah created an ark, followed God’s commandment exactly and completely, and trusted God despite being criticized by people. In the same way, Abraham trusted God when He was put to a test to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. Lastly, David showed his faith in God even after being threatened by his enemies and even with his son, Absalom. This only shows that we can trust God not only because Noah, David, and Abraham trusted God but because we are certain that God will not put us in a situation that will harm us.

“’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. ‘”

If we ask ourselves, “How different would it be this time?” the answer is; there is no difference. Because no matter situation are we in, it will not nullify God’s character and plans for us. If we trusted God before, how can we not trust Him again? When we are worried, let us be like David. Rather than asking God for an immediate answer, let us ask for God’s presence – an assurance that He is with us in this Battle. Trust God completely means having faith that He knows what is best for your life.

Psalm 22:22-24

I will declare your name to my people;
    in the assembly I will praise you.
You who fear the Lord, praise him!
    All you descendants of Jacob, honor him!
    Revere him, all you descendants of Israel!
 For he has not despised or scorned
    the suffering of the afflicted one;
he has not hidden his face from him
    but has listened to his cry for help.
