My father and I never had the same preferences. He loved watching extreme sports while I enjoy television series, hence we never had time to bond together. Most of the time, we fall into an awkward silence if we do not have any topic to discuss or argue about. Despite this, he never fails to be protective of me especially if he sees me struggling. He is steadfast to shelter me on times I feel vulnerable and always ready to defend me from people who hurt me.

I remember one time when I couldn’t hide my suffering at school that I cried in his rescue. My class was having a dispute with one of our instructors that even innocent and blameless students are being punished. I remember that day clearly because I wouldn’t forget the hurt in my father’s eyes as he watches me cry in despair. That same night, he asked me told me that he will go to our school the very next day to take actions. Though he is encouraging me stand firm, I refused to take actions not only because it is not my battle to fight but also because I needed not anything further. His care was all that matter, and from that moment I was strengthened by his love and attention.

How beautiful a father’s love is! With the love our father on earth gives us, imagine the love of our father in heaven could give. It would be greater and mightier! Our Might Father guides us in the way of wisdom and leads us in upright paths. When we walk, our steps will not be hampered, and when we run, we will not stumble. (Proverbs 4:11-12) He is our hiding place. He will protect us from trouble and surround us with songs of deliverance. (Psalm 32:7-8)

As we celebrate Father’s day, do not forget to greet our father here on earth and also in heaven. Give thanks and remind them how much you appreciate their love and care.

Good Good Father – Emmy Rose

Oh, I’ve heard a thousand stories of what they think you’re like

But I’ve heard the tender whispers of love in the dead of night

And you tell me that you’re pleased

And that I’m never alone
