Do you remember your ambitions when you were still in school? You wanted to pursue your dream profession and use it to help the people in need, especially the poor ones. You wanted to provide for your family’s needs and wants as soon as you get your first salary. When you were young, you were eager to engage in charitable works even if you did not have time, money, and freedom to do so. You and your friends were full of ideals to save humanity although your means does not permit you to do so. Remember that? I remember how frustrated you were when someone is being materialistic or when someone abuses power to oppress; how helpless you felt when you couldn’t help the victims of typhoons and disasters financially; how mad you were at inequality and injustice. You were indeed a human, I hope you still are.
I suppose life is more complicated as an adult because of heavy burdens, this planet is still a den for worldly-minded people. I am weak at present. I get easily swayed by temptations. I am pessimistic about how you would become, and I am yet to trust the plans of God for me. I hope that in your time, you’ve started trusting alone in God and in Christ because after all, everything that we have experienced, and yet to experience are all God’s design. Whatever happens, I hope you do not spend the rest of your life chasing money and power because if you do, you’re no different from the people you used to hate. I hope that no matter how far you have achieved in life, you would stay humble and grounded. In whatever you do, do not be tempted to go against God’s will. Look away if the temptations are near. I hope you’ll never stop learning and growing up to become like Christ.
Allow me to share these verses with you to close this letter:
“Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking Him with a thankful heart, and with all his abundant wealth through Christ Jesus, my God will supply all your needs.” (Philippians 4:6,19)
“Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for such sacrifices God is pleased” (Hebrews 13:16)
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them” (Romans 8:28)
Truly Yours,
The Present
