Genesis 16:13
She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”
Passage: John 17:3-8
Last Tuesday evening, news broke out that EXO Planet #5 – EXplOration in Manila has been confirmed to be on August 24 this year. Being a fan of EXO for almost six years, I have never been into their event or concerts. Even coincidentally seeing them on streets was beyond my luck. This year will be my fourth time to miss their visit in Manila and I feel sad about it.
We feel down whenever we miss the chance to meet our idols, especially that they are very hard to reach. When I was still clueless about the beauty and goodness of God, I often get ungrateful about the things out of my reach. But after knowing how close God is to His people, I found out that we are very blessed. He is near and never hard to reach. (Jeremiah 23:23) Knowing and drawing to the Lord won’t need us to camp out on ticket-selling areas to secure our lane or even need money to buy our own tickets. Most especially, with God we will never have “sold-out’s.”
We can feel sad about not seeing our favourite band and celebrities in person, but remember that even without any material things we are already close to God. By knowing Him through the scriptures, experiencing goodness from other people, and even by simply watching the sky lit up every day, we already experience the most important and valuable closeness and relationship we could get. He sees us, hears our prayers, answers in our distress, and stays by our side. As blessed would have it, even how mighty and high our God is, there are no boundaries for us to know and see Him.
So if another time comes when you will miss one of your idol’s concert or fanmeeting, remember that you have already won the best ticket – seeing the One who sees you.
Prayer
Father, thank you for being near to us and for showing us Your face every day in every goodness, mercy, and hope we receive.
Our God is never faraway.
